What is HBOT ? (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy)

Like most medical terminology, the word hyperbaric comes from the Latin root words, “hyper”, and “baric”. Hyper meaning an increase in quantity, or quality, and baric meaning pressure. Oxygen plays a vital role in the healing process. Every cell in our body requires oxygen to function, and carry out their duties of staving off disease & infection.

HBOT was originally developed in the 1800’s to treat deep sea divers and caisson workers for DCS (decompression sickness). Today HBOT is used for a wide range of conditions, (cerebral palsy, autism, multiple sclerosis, stroke recovery, chronic fatigue syndrome, Lyme’s disease, traumatic brain injury, and fetal alcohol syndrome, just to name a few).

Life Force Therapies HBOT delivers 100% medical grade oxygen via a hyperbaric breathing hood, inside of a 5 person ASME/PVHO1 approved multiplace chamber.

HBOT is often used in conjunction with other medical treatments to assist and enhance healing.

How does it work?

The patient will enter the chamber, and the technician will begin introducing compressed air into the chamber. This process is done slowly, so as to insure that no ear discomfort occurs. The chamber occupants are now being placed under greater than normal atmospheric pressure, ( if you have ridden in commercial airplane, you have ridden in a hyperbaric chamber) ; this increase in pressure will allow a greater amount of oxygen to be delivered to the body.

With the intervention of HBOT, the concentration of pure oxygen dissolved into the bloodstream is dramatically increased, (*1)  up to 2,000 % , with virtually no energy expenditure. The blood, and all body fluids, including lymph, and cerebrospinal fluids are infused with this molecular oxygen. HBOT reduces swelling and allows oxygen to reach areas where the circulation has been compromised, kills bacteria by increasing white blood cells effectiveness, and promotes the creation of new capillary and peripheral blood vessels.
